European Union To Invest Euro 10 million To Promote Tanzania’s Heritage

European Union's official in Tanzania Ms. Alexa Du Plessis announced recently in Arusha that the European Union (EU), through the European Development Fund (EDF), will invest EUR 10 million in the development of Tanzania’s cultural and historical heritage.

Duirng the official launch of a state-of-the-art Cultural Arts Centre (CAC) at the Tumaini University Makumira (TUMA) in Arusha Du Plessis said that the decision was made as the World Bank predicts a surge of foreign tourists visiting the country to reach a record high by 2025 when Tanzania is expected to start receiving over 8 million visitors each year.
According to TUMA Vice-Chancellor Mr. Joseph Parsalaw the CAC aims at identifying, preserving and promoting the unique cultural heritage of music, dance and traditional instruments in northern Tanzania.
Tanzania has 120-plus tribes can be viewed in a single compound at Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre Tanzania. The centre also boasts of various carvings, gemstones, artifacts, clothing and books.
