Tyga Responds To Reports Of DMing A 14-Year-Old Girl
A 14-year-old girl is accusing Tyga of sending her “uncomfortable” messages, but the rapper denies that he engaged in any wrongdoing.
According to TMZ, a girl named Molly O’Malia said in a press conference on Monday that the rapper reached out to her via Instagram and she soon started to feel “uncomfortable.” The statement started by calling out OK! magazine, which put a pixelated photo of O’Malia on its cover and had been covering the saga of Tyga’s alleged contact with the girl, and the ways it affected his relationship with Kylie Jenner, but soon became focused on the nature of her interactions with the rapper.
“The truth is that Tyga contacted me first,” she said during the conference, with noted attorney Gloria Allred by her side. “He direct messaged me on Instagram. “I knew who he was but I was surprised that he was contacting me. I thought that it could possibly be about my music, but he did not mention that in his initial communication with me. I thought that was strange, but I was thinking he would bring that up in his next message to me. However, he didn’t mention it in the next message.
“I began to feel uncomfortable when he asked me to FaceTime with him,” she added. “He asked me to FaceTime three times, but I did not do it. Because of my discomfort with why he wanted to communicate with me I quickly stopped responding to him.”
Tyga, though, through his management, is claiming that he was reaching out to O’Malia because he was interested in having her work with his record label, and that the attempted FaceTimes came when he was in the studio with producers, so that he could hear her sing. He also claims she said she was 17.
Allred was particularly upset with the magazine, which reportedly posted screenshots of the alleged online communication between Tyga and O’Malia.
“She has a right to earn her own reputation and not have someone hijack it and present it in a false light, in a sexual way,” she said. “We are sexualizing young people, teenagers far too much. Don’t get me started on the pornification of our culture. It’s disgusting.”
