A mother
who jumped in front of a speeding train while holding her three-year-old
daughter had celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary just days
earlier.
Emergency
services had to free Archana Kunnath, 30, and daughter Shreya after
both became trapped under the train at around 2.10pm on Wednesday at
Harris Park station in Sydney's west.
The
former assistant software engineer died at the scene and Shreya is
currently in a critical but stable condition at Westmead Hospital.
Ms
Kunnath's husband Sujith Vaikakkara shared a picture of the couple on
his Facebook page on Saturday, celebrating 'five years of togetherness,'
just four days before the tragic incident.
After reviewing CCTV footage, police confirmed the incident was self-harm
Others show an inquisitive Shreya wandering around the Pyrmont bridge and following her mother down a set of stairs.
In October, Mr Vaikakkara shared a picture of his daughter for her birthday.
'It's been three years after we blessed with this gods gift,' he wrote alongside the image.
Ms Kunnath's former employer Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said the company is 'shocked and deeply saddened' by the tragedy.
'The
TCS community is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our
thoughts are with Archana's family and friends at this time,' CEO
Deborah Hadwen said.
