NCAA Start Construction Of TZS 43 Billion Jakaya Kikwete Ngorongoro Tower, Arusha Tallest Building
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Authority (NCAA), the entity in charge of promoting conservation of natural
resources and tourism in Ngorongoro crater, has recently started construction
works of the Jakaya Kikwete Ngorongoro Tower in Arusha’s city center, northern
Tanzania. The tower is meant to be the tallest building in the city with its
planned 18 story at a total investment of TZS 43 billion funded by NCAA. The
company in charge of the tower’s construction, Catic International Engineering
Limited, the Tanzanian subsidiary of the state-owned China National
Aero-technology International Engineering Corporation (CATIC-ENG) engaged with
international engineering contracting, overseas real estate, and trade and
labor services. The tower is planned to be a one-stop shopping center where
customers will find business and health centres, commercial banks’ branches,
restaurants, a high class hotel and retail shops when it is completed in
November 2016. The investment will be a good source of income not only for the
NCAA, but also for the government since it will support job creation for local
residents, explained NCAA Board Chairperson, Ambassador Mwanaidi Maajar. The
Ngorongoro Conservation Area generates an income of TZS 55 billion per year
thanks to the 600,000 tourist arrivals.
