For Eugene Finney, being attacked by a shark while on vacation in California was just as harrowing of an experience as you would imagine. “Something struck me from behind,” Finney told CBSN. “I’d
never been hit like that before. It was pretty jarring. It kind of gave
me an instant whiplash.” Finney was promptly rushed to the hospital
after he noticed the shark's gash on his back and started experiencing severe chest pains, where he ended up receiving some unexpected news.
"They had discovered a growth, or a
tumor, on my right kidney about the size of a walnut,” Finney told
reporters. The growth turned out to be cancer. Finney had the tumor immediately removed via surgery thanks to an early detection.
"The shark was a real message to me,"
Finney said. "If this didn't happen with the shark causing me to go in
with this chest pain, I would never have known about this cancer.”
Finney is fortunately not expected to need any further treatments,
making this story even more remarkable.

A biology teacher has come up with a unique way to keep her classes interested while she teaches them about science.
Debby Heerkens, a biology teacher
at the Groene Hart Rijnwoude school in the Netherlands, has her classes
enthralled as she teaches about the body's internal organs and the
skeleton.
And her method couldn't be more simple.
In the video, which was shot while Debby was teaching, she takes off
her top layer of clothes to reveal a spandex body suit covered with an
accurate representation of the body's organs.
She then teaches
her class while pointing at different organs, allowing her pupil's to
see exactly where each one is located on a real human body.
Debby originally discovered the educational body suits
while browsing online, and immediately checked with her school's
director about whether she would be able to use them in her classes.
She was given the go-ahead, and promptly introduced the suits into
her classes, allowing her pupil's a more 'interactive' learning
experience.
Debby told a Netherland's news site: "I saw someone walking in the muscle leggings last year.
"You're always looking for ways to trigger students and teach classes so that they remember [the lessons].
"I told the director that I had bought the suits, and he liked it too."
And now pupil's in Debby's class are already asking when their next body suit lesson will be.
A spokesman for the school said: "With Mrs Heerkens there is always something special! leave your comment below
One of the happiest moments in a Brazilian woman's life quickly turned
into one of the worst when she reconnected with her biological mother
and discovered she had a brother she had never known about.
Unfortunately, she had also been married to him for seven years.
The Daily Mail reports
that married couple Adriana, 39, and Leandro, 37, were both given up as
babies and had been looking for their birth mothers for nearly their
whole lives. Adriana went on Radio Globo's The Time is Now, a show that reunites long-lost relatives, this week, to finally meet her mom.
In their
conversation, she learned her mother gave up another baby, her little
brother, who just happened to have the same name as her husband. The
host of the show, Ron Magrini, cut in to ask Leandro's last name,
confirming the awful coincidence: Adriana had married her brother.
They first met 10 years ago, and now have a 6-year-old son together.
Adriana had
suspected something like this after seeing their mother's name, Maria,
on one of her husband's two birth certificates, but she thought the
reunion would put those fears to rest, not confirm them.
"We
thought it was funny that both our mothers had the same name, but it is a
common name so we just thought it was a coincidence," she said.
Radio Globo
reports the two never had their marriage notarized by the government or
recognized by a church, so it's technically void under Brazilian law.
Regardless, they say they love each other and plan to stay together.
Sarah
Ray was on the way to celebrate her nuptials when duty called. The
off-duty paramedic had just said “I do” when she received a call that
turned her wedding day from joy to a tragedy—her father and grandparents
had been in a car crash on their way to the reception.
According to US News & World Report,
Ray—whose side-of-the-road wedding photo has gone viral this week—was
devastated to hear of the accident and immediately dropped what she was
doing to race to the scene of the crash with her new husband.
Fortunately, Ray’s father and grandfather are fine and her grandmother,
who sustained injuries from her seat belt and air bag, is expected to
make a full recovery, but Ray’s dedication to her family, even on what’s
often termed “the most important day” of someone’s life is a refreshing
departure from all the bridezillas one sees on reality TV.
“One
of the first things she [Ray’s grandmother] said to me was sorry she
ruined my wedding day,” Ray said. Ray assured her grandmother she had
done no such thing.
Ray went
back to her wedding, but not before her mom got a picture of the bride
hiking up her dress to walk away from the accident; ambulances served as
her backdrop. And once that picture was posted, Ray’s nuptials were
celebrated not just by her family and friends but by the entirety of the
Tennessee county in which she resides (as well as a good portion of the
internet):
The
photo was posted to the Montgomery County government’s Facebook page
with the caption, “How dedicated are you to your job?” The caption
briefly explains the circumstances of the photo and concludes, “Thank
you, Sarah, for loving what you do!”
The 29-year-old newlywed says she’s been called a hero, but doesn’t believe she’s worthy of the title, telling
ABC News that she did what any first responder would have in her
situation. And the fact that she stopped her wedding to check on the
safety of others isn’t out of character for her. Ray, and her husband
Paul, also a paramedic, have stopped to help when they’ve seen accidents
before. “It just so happened that this time, I was in a wedding dress,”
she said.
But if
going viral wasn’t enough of a surprise, Ray got another one, in the
form of a statement by Chief Jimmy Edwards, a paramedic and nurse who
works with her:
“Professionally,
Sarah is an outstanding paramedic and exemplifies what it means to work
in EMS,” Edwards said. “Personally, she is humble and compassionate and
sets a good example for us all. We are all very proud of her.”
A
self-described pastor who tried to drown out President Obama’s second
inauguration with shouting has pleaded guilty to trying to drown out the
Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling with shouting. He faces up to
one year in prison. That will probably not deter him from future
shouting.
Rives Miller Grogan, 50, previously from California, now living in Mansfield, Texas, was arrested on April 28
after trying to interrupt oral arguments in Obergefell v. Hodges, the
case where SCOTUS ultimately ruled that the states have to recognize
same-sex marriage. Grogan was dragged out of the Supreme Court chambers
after yelling gay marriage supporters will “burn in hell for eternity”
according to the Bible. Courthouse News reported Tuesday that Grogan has accepted a plea bargain, pleading guilty to “picketing or parading in violation of federal law.”
Grogan has
been arrested five times since 2009 for similar demonstrations,
according to the Washington Post. His last highly publicized run-in with
the law was in 2013, when he climbed 40 feet up a tree and tried very hard to shout over President Obama’s inaugural address. After
that one, he was handed a restraining order that temporarily banned him
from the whole of DC. RH Reality Check notes that Grogan is also an
anti-abortion activist who once ran on the field during the World Series with a sign that read “ABORTION IS SIN”
and “Vote Romney/Ryan” on its reverse side. Photos and video of his
stunts show that he likes to demonstrate bare-chested underneath an open
jacket.
On Grogan’s
highly informative Twitter page, you can learn his stances on various
issues, namely that abortion is bad, gay marriage is bad, and God is
real upset.
Oh, come on; who hasn’t thought about stripping their clothes off in a Subway and tearing the place apart? GLASS HOUSES.
Via the local NBC affiliate,
Anchorage, Alaska woman Nikki Abrell was arrested after...well...a lot
of things. Apparently, Abrell first locked herself in the bathroom for
two hours and refused to come out. When she finally did come out, she
was naked and in a mood to re-enact the opening scene from Apocalypse
Now, breaking furniture, ripping down ceiling tiles, throwing food
around the restaurant, and, in the words of one eyewitness, “smearing
feces all over stuff.”
Employees
fled outside while Abrell continued to go full “IT’S A RAMPAGE, LANA.”
The police were quickly called, at which point Abrell apparently decided
the best play was to try to fight them. She did not win, and is now in
custody. Police believed Abrell was under the influence of some sort of
substance, though it’s unclear specifically which drugs she was on at
the time (all of them?). Another source claims
police believed her to be on synthetic marijuana (the specific term
they used was “spice,” which I had never actually heard of until
tonight).
At the very
least, it’s unlikely any other customers were able to eat at the Subway
that night, which means that Abrell’s actions really should be
considered something of a public service.
A South African judge has put a hold on Oscar Pistorius’s release
from prison for the culpable homicide of his girlfriend Reeva
Steenkamp. Pistorius may not be released this Friday after 10 months in
jail, the judge said, citing confusion over protocol.
But
Michael Masutha, the justice minister, has referred the matter back to
the parole review board, sowing legal confusion and doubts over the
release date.
Mthunzi
Mhaga, spokesman for the Justice Department, said the date would have
to be reviewed again because the athlete was approved to be moved to
house arrest too soon.
It’s unclear if the parole board will be able to meet before Friday to review Pistorius’s case.
As the BBC
reports, Pistorius can be released under “correctional supervision”
because he has served a sixth of his sentence. But there’s a
technicality here: “One sixth of a five year sentence is 10 months and
at the time the decision was made Mr Pistorius had served only over six
months of his sentence,” the Department of Justice and Correctional
Services said
in a statement, explaining that the decision to give Pistorius parole
him “was made prematurely” before he was “eligible to be considered at
all.”
Wednesday would have been Steenkamp’s 32nd birthday.

As the country continues to mourn the mass murder at Umpqua Community
College, another senseless gun-related tragedy has shattered the
national consciousness. An 11-year-old boy from Eastern Tennessee was arrested on Monday for murder
after police sai
d he shot and killed his 8-year-old neighbor, Maykayla
Dyer, using his father’s 12-guage shotgun because she refused to show
him her two new puppies. “You need to put that away before somebody gets shot,” Maykayla told the boy, according to the manager of the White Pine mobile home park where both lived. Dyer’s mother said the boy had bullied her daughter
in the past and she’d complained to their school principal about the
teasing. The unidentified boy has been charged with first-degree murder
as a juvenile. During his Oct. 28 hearing a judge will determine whether
he should be tried as a juvenile or adult.
A
very jilted girlfriend has been burned on literal and figurative levels
after trying to carry out an acid attack on her former lover, police
say. Ung Limey, a 21-year-old from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, tried to pour
acid on her former fiance while riding on the back of his motorcycle. He
was injured, but most of the acid was blown back onto her own face.
Her ex, Leng Socheata, 23, crashed the bike after. Turns out that
getting acid poured on your face isn't exactly comfortable when driving.
Ung, the acid-purer, fled the scene before police arrived, and police
believe she has been treated for her burns at a private hospital. Leng's
family told police it was an act of revenge after they had convinced
him to break off the relationship, the Daily Mail reports.
Although she's currently missing, local media has been posting photos
of Ung with a bandaged face that came out on social media. Apparently,
she's been arrested for jewelry theft and drug charges in the past. Acid
attacks are way more common in Cambodia than they are in the U.S., but
stringent new laws have seen an 80 percent reduction in those incidents.
Earlier this year, someone was handed a life sentence for an acid
attack. Talk about getting burned.
More trouble for Nick Gordon: RadarOnline.com has learned that a grand jury is being convened in Georgia to bring possible murder charges against Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s ex in the wake of her tragic death.
A source close to the case told Radar Monday night that Brown’s self-described “husband” and his criminal lawyer, Jose Baez are following the fast-breaking developments. Gordon is currently facing a multi-million-dollar civil suit from Brown’s estate.
Now, “The District Attorney is convening a secret grand jury and it’s
likely to result in charges against Nick Gordon,” the source told
Radar. It is unknown at this time what those charges will be.
“It’s likely the other people in the house the morning she was found
unresponsive will be called to testify. But it doesn’t appear that Nick
will be called because the D.A. doesn’t want to give away their hand in
preparation of a possible trial.”
Those likely to be called in front of the grand jury are MaxLomas, a drug-dealing friend of Gordon’s and Max’s young girlfriend DanyelaBradley, the insider claimed.
Both were in Brown’s Roswell, Ga., townhouse along with Gordon on the morning of last Jan. 31 when Brown was found face down in a water-filled bathtub.
Lomas called 911, alerting authorities to the tragedy.
The 22-year-old was placed in a medically induced coma and never
regained consciousness. She died six months later in an Atlanta area
hospice on July 26.
A $40 million wrongful death lawsuit was filed against Gordon by her
family, alleging he beat her after an all-night “cocaine and drinking
binge.”
The civil suit also charged him with giving her a “toxic cocktail” that knocked her out.
Gordon has denied the claims and his legal team has called the suit “slanderous and meritless.”
On Sept. 25, the Fulton County (Ga.) Medical Examiner announced they
determined the cause of Bobbi Kristina’s death but the results were sealed from the public in a court action.
Brown’s father, BobbyBrown, has fingered Gordon as being responsible for his daughter’s death.
“We believe we know who harmed her and his name is Nick Gordon,” Bobby’s lawyer ChristopherBrown said.
Radar learned that as the grand jury is being summoned, both Gordon and his high-powered lawyer Baez – who got “Tot” mom Casey Anthony off in a headline-making criminal trial — are in Florida.
Since March 2014, the crab meats king Rick Ross has lost 80 pounds and dropped three full-length projects. This morning he dropped by Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club to announce his new studio album, Black Market, which will fulfill Ross' recording contract with Def Jam upon his album's release in December. Ross also introduced his fiancée,Lira Galore. He discussed his pending kidnapping and assault charges, which have led to his being on house arrest since July. And, inevitably, Rozay addressed the ghostwriting feud between Drake and his own Maybach Music Group lieutenant Meek Mill
Despite Drake's "Back to Back" quip to the contrary, Ross insists that "ain't nobody get bodied" in the feud so far, considering that Meek Mill left prison, launched his first No. 1 album, and started dating superstar rapper Nicki Minaj all in the past 12 months.
In any case, Ross believes the tension between Meek and Drake will be
short-lived. "I think this is what's good for the culture," he says,
referring to the thrill intensity of the beef back when it was still
fresh. "I really feel like they were two little homies in high school
who fought over a pair of Js." When Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne Tha God
pressed Ross to explain whether he'd still be able to work with Drake
despite Drake's having savaged Meek, Ross suggests that even Drake and
Meek might mend their disagreement and resume working together sooner
than you expect. "When the new Js come out," Ross says, "they back
cool."
At the top of the interview, Ross elides discussion of his pending criminal case, "rebuking" co-host Angela Yee's suggestion that he might end up doing jail time for an alleged pistol-whipping incident. Separately, Ross addressed the civil lawsuit in which a woman alleges that she was assaulted by Ross' agent, Thaddeus "Black" James,
at a hotel in L.A. Ross declined to speak at length on that case,
simply underscoring that he was not directly involved in or physically
present during the alleged assault.
Of course, Ross also took a minute to delight in the recent bankruptcy of his arch-nemesis, 50 Cent. "I'd probably be in my emotions as well if my first album were called, Get Rich Or Die Tryin', and I filed [for] bankruptcy," Ross says. "I guess his kidneys failed."
Listen to the Breakfast Club's full interview with Rick Ross here.
If you thought Cara Delevingne was joking about her all-out RAGE over the paparazzi constantly being in her face, we’ve got some video evidence to the contrary.
See, Cara spent the day in Paris supporting Karl Lagerfeld and reviving #CaKe at Chanel’s Fashion Week extravaganza
on Tuesday (Oct. 6). But when she went to grab a bite to eat with her
rumored GF St. Vincent and BFF Kendall Jenner after the show, things got
pretty ugly on the l’Avenue restaurant curb.
Upon arrival to the grub
spot, Cara & Co. were swarmed by a group of sidewalk photogs who
first greeted Kendall with relatively tame tones and then proceeded to
shout Cara’s name again and again as she walked past.
The girls’ security team seemed to have the sitch under control, but
then one guy got a little too close for Cara’s liking. That’s when the “Pan”
actress turned around, gave him a death glare, shoved him and then ran
away giggling and saying “I pushed him, I pushed him, I pushed him.”
Here’s another angle that shows the guy who went from pushy to pushee in two seconds flat.
FWIW, Cara appeared to have the crowd on her side because there were
several giggles to accompany hers. She later owned up to her actions
with an explanatory tweet, writing, “Dear paps, if you are in my way, I
have a right to move you.”
Cara Delevingne Is Sick Of Being Objectified By The Paparazzi
Cara, who went on a fiery Twitter spree in September after her close brushes with the paps at London Fashion Week,
warned photogs everywhere that she was at her wits’ end with “grown men
treat[ing] people like objects with no feelings” and making her “feel
like a zoo animal” on the regular.
She even threatened to exact some Class A revenge on ’em all,
writing, “One day when I have time, I will find out where you live and
camp outside your house with my friends armed with cameras.”
Now, that’s not exactly what happened here, but Cara’s very
literal pushback did send a loud-and-clear message. But was it the right
one? Let us know what you think in the comments.
Watch out, Taylor Swift — there's new squad in town.
This weekend, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Schumer, Chris Pratt, and Aziz Ansari hung out and decided to give the world a glimpse
into their glorious, newfound friendship. Schumer and Ansari have spent
a lot of time together since they are both co-headliners for the
Oddball Comedy Festival, and they decided to invite their other famous
friends for some epic sleepovers.
All of this went down in Atlanta, Georgia, where Lawrence and Pratt are currently filming their movie Passengers.
The famous actors decided to have some fun and posted a series of
hilarious videos on Instagram to document all the good times.
The famous stars made a short film in which Ansari repeats “hi guys”
from a swing while Pratt stares onwards with a grave expression, his
mind clearly consumed by some existential crisis. The movie, which
should obviously be nominated for an Oscar, was directed by Lawrence,
and Schumer served as the Director of Photography. Talk about some major
talent, people.
More drama between Birdman and Lil Wayne. This time, the disagreement is over the signing of Chanel West Coast to YMCMB.
The femcee, most commonly known for her appearances in MTV’s Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, and her recent claim of police brutality, was set to sign a deal with the label but according to a TMZ source familiar with the ongoing lawsuit, Birdman is blocking the move.
This isn't the first time Lil Wayne has tried to sign Chanel. The
deal fell through once before, in 2013, for reasons that aren't clear.
Since the shocking rift between the Cash Money boss and his "son" Wayne, the status of Drake and Nicki Minaj's agreements also have been a topic of heated debate
Ugandan-born Kassim Kayira, a long-serving journalist with the
British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has finally quit the London based
media giants for Azam TV as the East African Chief Correspondent
covering Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC and South Sudan.
However, ChimpLyf understands that Kayira is targeting to run his own farming business in his mother country, Uganda.
While speaking to ChimpLyf’s Farouk Twesigye on Phoneon Friday,
Kassim said, “I’ve been with the BBC for 10 years now and I’m among the
few presenters and producers that have worked on several
programmes especially because I speak 12 languages including English,
Arabic, Swahili and nine African languages.”
Speaking of his long eventful journey in journalism, Kassim said,
“I’m ‘retiring’ to embark on a new challenge back home. I joined the BBC
in 2005 as a presenter in the Great Lakes Service presenting
Kinyarwanda-Kirundi news, went on to work on the BBC’s biggest
continental programmes, Network Africa and Focus on Africa. In 2012, I
joined BBC Dira TV as presenter/ producer in Kiswahili where I’ve been
till today. I’ve been reporting some of the most dangerous conflicts in
the world including the war in Congo and the Central African Republic. I
did a big expose on illegal migration to Europe from Africa (breaking
into Britain on YouTube) and went on to report on migration for the BBC.
I have been one of BBC’s Great lakes experts, so, basically it has been
a rewarding journey.”
“One of the things that have made me quit the mighty BBC to go back
home is because I want to be self employed as a commercial farmer and at
the same an Azam TV correspondent in the whole of East Africa,” he
added.
“I’ll be based in Kampala as Azam TV’s east Africa chief
correspondent and running my farm of which I have already started in
Luweero (Wobulenzi) so I’d like to spend more time on it but also keep
that big job at Azam,” he exclusively told ChimpLyf.

Saturday, Amber Rose broke down in tears in front of thousands of people as she recalled being slut-shamed by former lovers Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa!
This weekend, Rose led droves of men and women on a march through Los Angeles to bring awareness to a problem that is near and dear to the model’s heart — the degradation of women based on their clothing or perceived sexual promiscuity. As she took the stage to deliver her speech, Rose was overcome by emotion as she recalled the hurtful things that West and Khalifa had said about her after their romances went wrong.
Rose and Khalifa were married from 2013 to 2014, and share one son, Sebastian. Yet when they split, Khalifa was quick to speak ill about Rose, even dissing her in songs. “All I did was ever love him. I just loved him so much. And gave him a beautiful son, and to be told that I was nothing but a stripper — it hurt,” she said through a stream of tears.
Kim Kardashian and Amber Rose have a lot in common. In addition to having curvaceous bodies and scandalous pasts, both ladies were once loved by Kardashian’s current husband, Kanye West. But as a feud continues to rage between the Kardashian/Jenner Clan and Team Blac Chyna/AmberRose over Kylie‘s relationship with Tyga, a new, deeply sinister battle technique has emerged — Rose stealing Kardashian’s style! When Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker announced his candidacy for
the Republican presidential nomination on July 13, he peppered his
34-minute speech with
a laundry list of deeply conservative policy prescriptions. Among them
was a requirement — much like the one in the state budget he signed less than 24 hours before the event — that welfare recipients pass a drug test before collecting public assistance benefits.
"In Wisconsin, we enacted a program that says that adults who are
able to work must be enrolled in one of our job training programs before
they can get a welfare check," he said. "Now, as of the budget I just
signed, we are also making sure they can take a drug test."
The Republican romance with legislation meant to complicate
the process of delivering aid to low-income residents or, as critics
argue, defame and shame them, can be traced back to 2009. In November of
that year, newly arrived GOP Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona announced that the cash-strapped state would begin testing adults if the state had "reasonable cause" to believe they were getting high.
"We don't want people who are abusing drugs to be on welfare," GOP state Rep. John Kavanagh told the Arizona Republic in 2009,"because that means that the taxpayers are subsidizing and facilitating illegal drug use."
But an examination of Arizona's experiment reveals a
flawed policy that has failed to accomplish its stated goal of saving
the state money, and has instead done little more than further
stigmatize poverty and marginalize the poor.
The results are thin: According to USA Today, more than 87,000
welfare recipients went through Arizona's program in the three years
after it began. The total number of drug cheats caught was exactly one —
a single positive result, which saved the state precisely $560.More..........

Chris Brown will not be charged in connection with an assault on his tour bus earlier this month -- the investigation turned up goose eggs.
Federal Heights PD in Colorado tells us the woman who initially filed
the assault claim hired an attorney, and said she no longer wanted to
pursue the case.
We're told cops interviewed other witnesses who were at the Denver strip club while Brown filmed a music video with Fetty Wap and French Montana -- and concluded they didn't have the goods to present the case for charges.
For now it's been ruled 'inactive,' ... which typically means put a fork in it.
Brown said from the beginning the whole claim was bogus ... looks like he was right.
Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga say they got screwed by Birdman just like Lil Wayne did ... as least that's what Lil Wayne claims in new legal docs.
Lil Wayne now claims in his bitter lawsuit against Birdman and Cash Money,
he has letters from Drake and Tyga's people claiming they got stiffed
out of a fortune. And Nicki's people say in a separate letter her
producers also got shortchanged by Young Money, and Wayne says it's Cash Money's responsibility to pay producers.
As you know, Lil Wayne runs Young Money, whose stable of artists

The allegations of Cash Money's financial shenanigans are massive.

advance from Universal -- an advance that went directly to Cash Money --
and they're still waiting.
But Cash Money says Wayne and company are full of it. They gave him a
$20 million advance for Young Money in 2012, another $12 million for
Wayne's solo album and another $70 million in advances, royalties,
marketing and recording costs for various Young Money artists.
Cash Money claims in the docs if anyone is a slacker it's Wayne ...
he was supposed to deliver 21 albums over 7 years for his artists and
only anted up 13.
